Halden FoodsA promise, a plan, another decision

Can we promise EU-only data?

A prospect asks where its data will live. Tom needs an answer he can stand behind. What starts as a sales question becomes a requirement for engineering, and comes back to Security when the build reveals something new.

ACME is a fictional software company using Emargen.

01Topics · Research

Find out what the answer depends on.

Tom's questionnaire needs a clear answer. Mira opens a research topic and names his questionnaire so the agent can read it. The agent checks region settings and backups against the code and documents. It also identifies a gap: no source says where Support accesses customer data. Mira supplies that missing fact.

Mira · SecurityFills the one gap the agent found: support access.

Where would Halden's data live?

Region settings
Checked in the code.
Backups
Checked against the runbook.
Support access
A question for Mira.
Each finding keeps the places the agent looked.

02Topics · Decision

Keep the condition with the answer.

The agent sets out the possible answers and recommends a qualified yes. Mira records the decision: Halden's data can stay in the EU if the EU region is selected at onboarding. The topic holds both the conclusion and what must be true for it to hold. Tom has more than a reassuring sentence.

Mira · SecurityOwns the answer and its condition.

Yes, if…

The condition

Halden is placed in the EU region at onboarding.

Retained with the research
Research, sources and the decision stay together.

03Initiatives · Requirements

Make the condition part of the plan.

Mira starts an initiative and asks its agent to read the research topic. The agent turns the condition into the core requirement, then compares approaches to implementation. A nightly check would discover a wrong region too late. The chosen plan requires a deliberate region choice before onboarding can finish. Lena approves the plan.

Lena · ProductApproves a plan that addresses the condition.

Keep Halden's data in the EU

  1. 01

    Require a region at onboarding.

  2. 02

Show the region to the customer.

  3. 03

    Send notices from that region.

The research topic is named in the initiative's conversation.

04Change requests · Human judgement

Let a new finding reach the decision-maker.

While building, Jonas's coding agent discovers that the mail provider stores message logs in the US. It raises a change request against the approved plan, with the affected requirement and options attached. Mira can investigate those options with her agent before choosing. The build continues with the marked interim option while her decision is pending.

Mira · SecurityStill needs to decide how the approved plan should change.
